Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Ingredients

For the dough:

1 cup warm milk
1 tablespoon instant dry yeast
2T sugar
3T soft butter
1 large egg
3 cups all-purpose flour
1t salt

For the filling:

1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup brown sugar
2T cinnamon

For the glaze:

150g cream cheese
1/4 cup soft butter
1&1/2 cups confectioners sugar
1t vanilla paste/extract
2T milk

Method

Mix warm milk, yeast, sugar, salt, butter, and eggs.
Add in flour and mix thoroughly.
Add more flour as necessary so that the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. The dough mixture should be tacky, but not stick to your hands & should be soft. Wipe a bowl lightly with butter or oil and place dough in the bowl and cover with a towel. Let the dough rise to double in size for about an hour or so.

Grease your baking sheet and punch down your dough and roll out.
Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
Brush the dough with 1/2 cup melted butter.
In a separate bowl, mix your brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle over butter covered dough. Roll up tightly lengthwise so you have one long roll and then cut into discs.
Place the discs onto your greased baking sheet and let rise 30 to 45 minutes.
Bake the rolls for about 12 to 20 minutes, depending on your oven, until lightly brown on top.

Whilst your rolls are baking, make the cream cheese glaze by using a hand mixer to whip together cream cheese and butter in a bowl. Whip in powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Add enough milk to achieve a drizzle-like consistency. Pour over rolls whilst the rolls are still hot from the oven.
